Construction starts on luxe apartments

Property developer Blackburne celebrated a significant milestone in Rockingham last Friday, as ground was officially broken on its new Azure Beachside Apartments development.

Located on the corner of Flinders Lane and Empress Corner, the new luxury apartment complex is set to feature 51 apartments, with construction due to finish in late 2018.

The project has already drawn significant interest in the community, with more than 90 per cent of buyers coming from the local area.

WA’s largest multi-unit builder Pindan will be responsible for carrying out construction of the project.

Blackburne founder and managing director Paul Blackburne said the breaking of ground at the site had ignited buyer interest.

“We have now sold over 60 per cent of Azure’s 51 apartments, with the vast majority of buyers being owner-occupiers looking forward to their new beachside lifestyle,” he said.

“While the location is an obvious drawcard, the building itself offers superb amenities which have been designed by DMG Architects, including a large, sparkling pool on the podium level — with timber decking sun lounges, relaxation zones, a barbecue area and shaded cabana — for residents to enjoy with family and friends.”

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said developments like Azure would play a key part in supporting Rockingham’s population growth over the next decade.

“Bringing our coast to life with high-quality, affordable apartment living heralds a bright future for Rockingham,” he said.

“Our foreshore redevelopment will see new piazzas, boardwalks and upgrades to infrastructure, providing an enviable lifestyle for Azure’s future residents.”

Minister for Housing Peter Tinley officially turned the sod at the site on behalf of Premier Mark McGowan and Planning Minister Rita Saffioti.
