Subiaco is about to get a night market.
It comes hot on the heels of the return of the former Pavilion Market in the guise of the One Subiaco Markets, which kick off this Saturday morning and could become a weekly event.
The new Subi Night Market is set to run every Saturday between November 11 and April 6 at Market Square Park.
Promoters say it has been developed from the concept of a traditional market square and will have “a European-inspired village atmosphere”.
The new markets will include pop-up food stalls offering more than 40 international cuisines, preloved and vintage clothing, a stand from Subiaco gin distillery Little Things, local artists, galleries and live music.
Subiaco mayor David McMullen said they would bring “additional buzz and vibrancy to Subiaco over the summer months”.
“As key sponsor, City staff have worked swiftly and decisively to make this opportunity a reality for Subiaco,” he said.
“I encourage everyone to come along on a warm summer Saturday and spend the rest of the afternoon or evening exploring Subiaco’s many great restaurants, retailers and bars.”
Meanwhile, the modern incarnation of the Pavilion Market will be held on a monthly basis until the end of the year after which One Subiaco developer Paul Blackburne said he hoped it would become weekly.
“The One Subiaco Markets will be on the first Saturday of each month and it’s very likely that if large crowds attend it will become a regular event and maybe every Saturday,” he said.
These markets will be launched at 10am this Saturday October 7.
