A luxury apartment development at Swanbourne has taken home a top property honour.

Building owner and developer Blackburne was presented with the Property Council of Australia’s Rider Levett Bucknall WA Development of the Year award at a cocktail reception on Wednesday.

Consisting of 156 luxury one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses, Blackburne’s Aria Swanbourne has delivered a product that balances luxury and affordability.

“Blackburne’s Aria Swanbourne demonstrates how density, when well delivered, can add value to a local community,” Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said.

“The judges were impressed with the standard of design and amenity, and with the developer’s commitment to engage with the community and local residents during the construction period.

“As a result of this approach, local residents became advocates for the development, and prospective purchasers and local councils alike are now asking whether new apartments will be like Aria.”

Mr Iacomella said the common facilities were arguably the best ever seen in a Perth apartment project, reflecting the $2 million budget Blackburne set for these facilities alone.

The common facilities include a private dining room, full commercial kitchen, expansive residents’ lounge, a lobby lounge and a barbecue area.

Wellness facilities include a sauna and steam rooms, a heated infinity swimming pool and spa, state-of-the-art gymnasium, yoga studio and massage rooms. A cool room is available for storing online grocery orders, while a communal temperature-controlled wine cellar provides a private lock box for each apartment.

“After $70 million in off-the-plan sales within three months, the apartments were snapped up quickly once the development was completed, which is a real testament to the team’s commitment to quality,” Mr Iacomella said.

The WA Development of the Year award was part of the national 2018 Property Council of Australia/RLB Innovation and Excellence Awards program.

RLB has partnered with the Property Council to present the awards program since its inception in 1982.

Blackburne Founder and Managing Director Paul Blackburne said the development was described as the perfect place to enjoy your own space and privacy, relax by the pool or in the sauna, entertain friends and family, have home shopping delivered or attend a yoga or gym session.

“Congratulations to the Blackburne team who worked tirelessly on the project to deliver such an outstanding development,” he said. “It is fantastic to see our vision for the project come to life.”

Aria Swanbourne won the High Density Development award at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) WA Awards for Excellence in 2016.

At the time of its opening in June 2016, Mr Blackburne said the new complex delivered quality that had never been seen in apartment development in Perth.

“Our vision was to create luxurious apartments, but even more than that, to provide common facilities for buyers focused on physical health and social wellbeing, and create a connected community,” he said.

“With that in mind, we designed Aria around a central hub of world-class resort-style facilities.”

Completed by Hillam Architects and Probuild, Aria Swanbourne provides residents with an opportunity to spoil themselves with unprecedented luxury.
